We’ve been dying to write this blog on the lovely Ox Pasture Hall Hotel, and finally, now we’ve both been to sample it’s delights, here it is!
Set in the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park – (and boy is it stunning) this romantic country hotel is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Whilst looking for the hotel we couldn’t help but feel like we’ve stepped into the cupboard and entered into an overgrown, luscious narnia. A narnia which was just a matter of minutes to the seaside, which is always a plus on a hot summers day! Whilst you walk around the gardens you can’t help but think it would be a perfect venue for a rustic, vintage wedding (there’s even a barn there too!).
The hotel boasts thatched gazebos – perfect to relax under for a quintessential afternoon tea (which of course we had), cosy log fires to snuggle up next to when the days get short, rainfall showers (a current obsession of Alex’s), tendered grounds and colourful gardens, and we’ve not even got started on the food or lovely staff yet!
Oh the food! … or should we say the 5 amazing courses of mouth watering local produce we were treated to (and lets not forget the surprise bottle of prosecco too!). Now we love a good meal out and we’re always on the hunt for new and exciting restaurants in and around York, but this food was stunning and the service we received was brilliant! Our favourite must have been the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb, Braised Rump, Sweet Potato Dauphinoise and Butternut Squash Puree (doesn’t that just sound exquisite!) Perfectly cooked and using the very best of local produce in the area it really is a meal which we won’t be forgetting in a long time! Imagine what the wedding catering options would be like!
We know we’ve already mentioned the brilliant service we received, but the staff were truly lovely and genuinely interested in their guests and making sure everyone is well looked after – the true Yorkshire spirit!
So all in all … would we go back – YES, would we recommend a country style vintage wedding there – WE SURE WOULD, and would we pop in for a quintessential afternoon tea after a spot of rambling through the surrounding woodlands – WITHOUT A DOUBT!
It really is the perfect country retreat … and we hear there’s a spa being built soon!
